JOB DESCRIPTION

Status: Hourly; Goal of growth to full-time
Location: Memphis, Tennessee
Reports To: Clinical Nutrition Directors

About the Role

As a Memphis Nutrition Group Dietitian, you will:

  • Provide compassionate, evidence-based medical nutrition therapy and counseling to clients using a non-diet, weight-inclusive approach.

  • Serve as the client’s lead nutrition advocate, collaborating with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure holistic care.

  • Actively engage with fellow team members, participate in team discussions, and contribute to maintaining a strong, positive company culture.

  • Stay current with the latest nutrition research, listen to and learn from clients’ lived experiences, and lean on the wisdom and expertise of colleagues to continually enhance your practice.

  • Develop and refine therapeutic and counseling skills to better support clients on their unique journeys

  • A professional who is committed to providing in-person sessions 4 days per week as their caseload builds.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Use sound judgment, critical thinking, and evidence-based treatment approaches when providing medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling to diverse clients.

  • Conduct initial individual/couple/family nutrition sessions and provide follow up nutrition sessions for clients. Sessions would be held in office or via Telehealth. We also offer meal support, grocery tours, and restaurant outings as needed. 

  • Utilize therapeutic modalities as appropriate when counseling behavior changes.

  • Manage schedule and caseload of clients with the support of our practice assistant.

  • Document clinical notes completely, accurately, and in a timely manner in our electronic health record.

  • Collaborate with treatment teams, clients, and staff in a timely and effective manner.

  • Be familiar with various treatment options to make referrals as needed.

  • Keep open, frequent communication with all team members and participate in team meetings.

  • Attend regular supervision with practice owners who hold CEDS-C credentials.

  • Engage in and invest time and resources to ongoing professional learning, networking, and growth.

  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed.

  • Contribute to marketing, community outreach, and consulting assignments as needed.

Skills & Knowledge:

The ideal applicant has a basic working knowledge of the following:

  • Nutrition counseling skills in line with weight-inclusive, non-diet philosophies and principles (ex. Health at Every Size, Intuitive Eating)

  • Ethics of the dietetics profession

  • Experience with one-on-one non-diet nutrition therapy and eating disorder counseling with the ability to build positive therapeutic alliances with clients and their families

  • Proven organizational and time management skills 

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with patients and other providers from diverse cultural, educational, and ethnic backgrounds

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently

  • Able to take initiative without direct supervision

  • Attention to detail

  • Excellent counseling and motivational interviewing skills

  • Ability to think critically and problem solve in challenging and complex situations

  • Flexibility and adaptability to clients’ needs, demonstrating a high level of professionalism and maturity

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary, team-oriented environment

  • Ability to create space for your own mental, emotional and physical well-being

Qualifications:

  • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration

  • Passionate about working with clients in an individual counseling environment 

  • Interest in working with eating disorders and mental health

  • Energetic, empathetic, motivated, compassionate, personable, patient and reliable

  • Computer proficiency and intermediate to advanced skills using G Suite (Gmail, google drive, google calendar, etc.)

  • Lifelong learner with insatiable curiosity

  • Self-aware so you’re able to learn, grow and take care of yourself

  • Friendly and excited to be a part of the MNG team!


Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Registered Dietitian (RD) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) 

  • Licensed RDN in the state of Tennessee (or willingness to obtain TN licensure)
